Bicycle Touring: Saturna Overnighter

The freedom and feeling of self-sufficiency is one of the most appealing aspects of bicycle touring to me. Being able to power yourself, carry everything you need, and move at your own pace, is so fun and satisfying. This feeling is captured very well even on short, one night trips. They require a little less planning, and therefore can be more spontaneous and fun in many ways. We’re lucky here on Canada’s west coast, because we have a natural playground of world-class bicycle touring at our fingertips. The southern Gulf islands are an excellent example of this; easily accessible by bike from Victoria, amazing, lush, rolling forest roads, and great camping opportunities, are all just a day-trip away.
